About
My veneration of the historical romantic painters, monumental surrealists and evolving impressionistsβ movements lay the foundation in my compositions. I am captivated by the intersection of the stunningly poignant fine arts, and the precisely imaginative illustrative schisms to define my voice. Following the traditions of figurativism, I pursue a narrative that encapsulates the dynamic prismatic essences of the human skin.
Figurative work, to me, is extracting richness underneath. I am inspired by the way light dynamically captures the anatomy of the figure to breathe another spirit back into a form. To find the nuances of color within the underlying skin tones to radiate an expressive truth of perception. Our society presents itself with masks, illusions and misrepresentations of our true natures. That energetic glow, the mood, the life force that is presented in this wild color subtly sparkling beneath that transmutes the perception of skin and reveals a truer, revealed essence. Every human, no matter the color, shape, size, affiliation or any other arbitrary division is hiding this universal essence.
My drawings and paintings act as a conversation between simultaneous realities to propose these engaging unique connections. I want my work to create a narrative which eludes to the vulnerability of nature and individuality. In my work, I use the figure to extract a universal linked essence and I attempt to capture the undefinable and intangible expressions of humanity through various mediums including watercolor, oil paint, pastel, and charcoal. The poetic process of innovative experimentation evolves my perceptions of myself, my engagement of the mediums, and sharpens my observations of each individual.
